The spring conference of the Section Atoms, Molecules, Quantum Optics and Photonics (SAMOP) of the German Physical Society (DPG) will be held at Leibniz Universität Hannover from 5 March to 10 March. The conference is a forum for discussing current physics topics in areas such as quantum sensors and quantum computing, precision metrology and X-ray lasers. Furthermore, physics didactics meets here. In addition, the conference is a platform for young scientists who often present their research work to a larger specialist audience for the first time. The scientific programme of the conference consists of over 1,500 contributions.
The conference director is QuantumFrontiers spokesperson Silke Ospelkaus. The Cluster of Excellence will also present itself in the conference's accompanying exhibition programme.
On Wednesday, 8 March, the public evening lecture "The End of the Classical World - The Nobel Prize in Physics 2022" will take place at 8 p.m. in the Audimax of Leibniz University. Reinhard Werner from the Institute of Theoretical Physics will explain how entangled photons have made it from an outsider idea to the highest honours. Admission is free.
