Leibniz University of Hannover received more than 153 million euros in third-party funding from 2017 to 2019. This figure was recently published by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) in its latest funding atlas. The new Funding Atlas is now the ninth report volume with which the DFG has presented key figures on publicly funded research every three years since 1997, based on several tens of thousands of data from all major public research funders in Germany and from the European Union.
In the field of physics, LUH ranks seventh in Germany, with 23.8 million euros. The research field of optics, quantum optics and physics of atoms, molecules and plasmas, which is included in this total, has the largest share of this sum with 20.3 million euros and brings Leibniz University an excellent first place for this sub-field of physics in the ranking.
The research field of geophysics and geodesy is also very successful, achieving 1st place in its group and bringing in 5.6 million euros during the funding period.
